During the Covid lockdown the church ladies found out I didn't have groceries. Within 24 hours, they were at my door bringing grocery gift cards and bags of stuff for me and my family.
I love the church ladies!!! They have been my friends and stood by me through some tough times and were there for me when I needed them. They pray for me and love me unconditionally.
When my husband and I got pregnant, they brought me gifts and stayed in touch after the baby was born.
They give the best hugs.
They bring us home-cooked meals just out of the goodness of their hearts!
I had really had a rough week when the church ladies showed up at the club with a meal. I hadn't eaten in days so I was appreciative of the food.
It's important to them to learn and remember our names. I appreciate that.
They feed strippers just because they want to!
They brought us roses one time in a little square vase with an encouraging Bible verse attached. I was so touched I didn't want to throw mine away even after the flowers died.
One of the women sang 'Happy Birthday' to me one night. I loved that!
We hit a rough patch once financially. I didn't ask for help but when they found out, they all sent me gift cards.
They treat us like normal people.
"I used to cringe as I fielded questions from my young children about the clubs we passed as we drove through our community. I became part of ONE AT THE WELL and stepped into a tangible, present connection with the very women inside those clubs. I see the love God has for the women and how much we have in common as moms, daughters, and sisters. I am blessed to hear their stories, and I see life a little more clearly as a result." – Karlee
Visiting with the women in the clubs has helped me realize in a more palpable way that everyone has a story and there is a reason why people are where they are in life. Doing this ministry has softened my heart in ways that made me see I didn’t even realize that my heart had become hardened. I have become more sympathetic, empathetic, forgiving, caring, and sensitive toward the life circumstances that other individuals find themselves in. – Jessica
"As a result of my involvement with ONE AT THE WELL, I have come to deeply love the women we serve. I see them, through the eyes of their Creator, as women with a destiny, purpose, and freedom they don't yet know is possible. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV). My capacity for compassion has expanded as Jesus is teaching me to see everyone through His eyes." – Carolyn
My faith has increased as a result of being a part of this ministry. Not every visit with the women feels tremendously profound. But there are some visits that are life changing, like the time we felt God led us to pray for a woman who had been trying to get pregnant for over a year. She allowed us to pray with her openly at the club and two weeks later she reported she was pregnant. As a result, she left the industry. It’s in those times that I’m reminded of God’s goodness and my faith grows stronger. – Amanda
